Frank co-founded Tierney Stauffer LLP in the early 1980s with his brother Stephen.
Frank’s practice focuses on the areas of personal injury, medical malpractice, disability claims and historical sexual assaults. He exclusively acts for plaintiffs and has successfully negotiated and settled thousands of claims arising out of serious injury or death. Frank works in our Ottawa office, but also travels to our locations in Arnprior, Cornwall and Kingston as needed to meet with clients on personal injury matters.
Frank has represented clients suffering from injuries and death arising out of automobile, aviation and train accidents. As such he retains and relies upon forensic engineers and other expert witnesses.
As a member of the Ontario Trial Lawyers Association and Medical Malpractice Specialty Group, Frank has represented clients on many medical malpractice cases and he has successfully negotiated numerous multi-million dollar settlements.
Historically, Frank has represented the police department and various police agencies. As such, he has appeared in many tribunals and hearings arising out of police shooting deaths and other matters.
Frank has appeared in all levels of court including the Supreme Court of Canada as lead counsel.
Frank was instrumental in raising $3.5 million for the life-saving surgical tool the CyberKnife at the Ottawa Hospital. Frank was the Chair of the Fundraising Committee to raise $3.5 million for the Dermatology Centre of Excellence in its continued fight against skin cancer.
Frank has sat on the Board of Directors of the Brain Injury Association of the Ottawa Valley and is a past Chairman of their Fundraising Committee. He is also a past Chairman of the Fundraising Charity Golf Tournament Committee for St. Patrick’s Home Foundation. During his tenure as Chairman, the Fundraising Committee raised in excess of $500,000 for the home.
