Chris is a respected corporate and commercial lawyer based in our Moncton office, whose practice focuses on energy and natural resources. With over 20 years of experience, Chris acts as a trusted advisor for downstream oil and gas clients undergoing transactional, complex or sensitive matters, including mergers and acquisitions; corporate restructuring; compliance issues; and dispute resolution.

Extending his knowledge to clients within the renewable energy sector, including wind and tidal, Chris expresses valuable insights relating to this developing industry. He also advises clients within the aquaculture sector. Chris offers practical advice to clients who are looking to establish business operations in Canada, as well as those looking to pursue foreign investment opportunities, in order to help maximize their investment.

Chris enjoys spending time with clients and getting to know their business and the industry in which they operates. Chris understands the key drivers to a client’s success, and uses this insight to help identify and minimize the risks and obstacles associated to that risk. For example, Chris has several years of in-house legal experience, having served as general counsel to both a regional downstream oil company and an international aquaculture company. Through this experience, Chris continues to lead with a strong understanding that strategic solutions are the successful by-product of collaboration between legal and multi-disciplinary resources.

Chris has earned repeated recognition in the Canadian Legal Lexpert® Directory in the areas of Corporate and Commercial Law and Oil & Gas, as well as Best LawyersTM in Canada for his work in Energy Law.

Chris is a member of the Law Society of New Brunswick, as well as the Marine Renewables Canada and the Fundy Energy Research Network. Chris has the ability to converse with clients in French or English. He previously served as a Board Director for McInnes Cooper and for the Atlantic Ballet Theatre of Canada for several years. Away from the office, Chris enjoys spending time, especially travelling, with his wife and twin daughters.
